Building a Culture of Innovation with the AI Innovator Studio:
ISTE+ASCD has launched the AI Innovator Studio! This year-long program for high school students focused on strengthening AI literacy and design is an expansion of the previous AI Innovator Challenge.
The AI Innovator Studio is more than a set of lessons. It’s a framework
for building a classroom culture where creativity, ethical AI use, and student-led problem solving thrive. In this session, on December 16 at 11:00 AM ET, we’ll explore how the Studio can help build a culture of innovation in classrooms and schools, through hands-on creation and exploration. You’ll also hear from Richard Culatta, ISTE+ASCD CEO, on building a culture of innovation. Register for the webinaror sign up for updates about the AI Innovator Studio.
Today!! Hour of AI with Mason Grimshaw
Educators and high school students are invited to join us as we deepen our understanding of AI with Mason Grimshaw. We will explore AI ethically and relationally, centering Indigenous perspectives throughout our learning.
Mason is Sicangu Lakota, a data scientist at Ode Partners (a data and design agency for the environment), data science instructor at the Lakota AI Code Camp, and Vice President at IndigiGenius.

Today!! Hour of AI by Latinos for Education
AI is rapidly becoming part of our classrooms, and Latino voices must be at the table to shape how it impacts education. Without action, the same students who have historically lacked access to high-quality STEM education risk being excluded from the AI era too. Join Latinos for Education for an Hour of AI to explore this technology, raise questions, and shape the future of AI.
This virtual session will take place on December 10th from 7:15 to 8:15 PM EST and is limited to 60 education leaders.
The Hour of AI is a global initiative by Computer Science Education Week and the Hour of AI by CSforALL to introduce millions of students to artificial intelligence. Register today!
Indigitize Launches New Video Showcasing Community of Practice Participants
We’re excited to share this video from our Indigitize Generation AI Community of Practice! Joined by 90+ viewers which included educators and community partners, we held a virtual screening and discussion for the release of a growing story about how our communities are shaping the future of AI and learning in their various contexts.
We’re deeply grateful to the incredible educators and to 6 O’Clock Films, whose work created such a powerful moment for our community. And this is only the start, as our community’s story and work continues to unfold, and we can’t wait to share what comes next.
Celebrating CSEdWeek — and Continuing the Momentum All Year Long
Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) is our annual call to action to inspire K–12 students to explore computer science, advocate for equity, and celebrate the incredible work of CS teachers, students, and partners across the country. Whether you joined us during the week or are catching up now, the spirit of CSEdWeek continues—and so do the resources.
This year, we highlighted how Computer Science Powers AI Innovation. As artificial intelligence continues to transform our world, understanding computer science fundamentals isn’t just helpful—it’s essential. CS education gives students the computational thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills they need to shape the future of AI in meaningful, responsible, and impactful ways.
If you missed any of the celebrations, activities, or classroom resources, don’t worry—everything remains available year-round. Explore lessons, videos, activities, and advocacy tools designed to support educators and inspire learners long beyond CSEdWeek.
Let’s keep the momentum going and continue empowering all students to thrive in a world powered by computer science and AI. Learn more at csedweek.org.
Opportunity to join Roadtrip Nation for The AI Skills Roadtrip
The AI Skills Roadtrip is an upcoming documentary project with Google.org that will feature three young people as they travel across the country in an RV. Along the way, they’ll meet inspiring leaders from a wide
range of industries—each using AI in powerful, creative ways. Through these conversations, they’ll explore how AI skills are opening doors in unexpected fields, driving innovation, and helping people make a real impact. It’s a front-row seat to the future of work—and how anyone can be part of it. The application is now officially open (Oct 14–Dec 14), and they are actively looking for three curious and motivated individuals to join Roadtrip Nation on this cross-country journey exploring how AI is being used in innovative, meaningful ways across industries. If you or your students (18+) are interested, please apply here.
When Wayside Schools Met AI
A year ago, Wayside Schools in South Austin, Texas was doing little on AI. Now the network of schools that serve 1,850 students is all in. Here’s the remarkable story of how Wayside took the AI plunge–and why many Wayside teachers feel like it’s one of the best things that’s happened to them and the community.
AI Innovator Studio Lessons Are Here!
The AI Innovator Studio is more than a set of lessons—it’s a space for educators and students to learn how to design with AI, not just about it. The Studio invites learners to explore how artificial intelligence can support creativity, problem-solving, and innovation with purpose.
Rather than focusing on step-by-step technical instruction or programming skills, the Studio emphasizes the design process itself—how ideas take shape, evolve, and come to life when AI becomes part of the toolkit. Each lesson opens a pathway for students to imagine, test, and reflect on how AI can amplify human potential while keeping ethics, empathy, and inclusion at the center.
For educators, the Studio provides ready-to-use lessons, flexible models, and a clear design framework that can be used in classrooms, clubs, or innovation spaces. Each lesson stands on its own or can connect to others in a progression, allowing facilitators to meet students where they are—whether they’re new to AI or ready to take on advanced builds.
At its core, the Studio is built on a simple belief: When students see themselves as designers, innovators, and responsible creators, they begin to shape the future—not just adapt to it. Learn more and download the free lessons!
