Latinos for Education and Playlab Partner for a Day of Learning
On January 7th, over 60 education leaders engaged in a day of learning with Latinos for Education and Playlab to gain a foundational understanding of the responsible and ethical use of AI and explore how AI can be leveraged safely to build impactful tools that center their unique expertise and needs. The participants began creating an AI tool that advances a solution to a barrier or problem in their educational contexts. The participants used a liberatory design framework to guide their advancement of a recommended solution to empower families, improve outcomes for multilingual learners, mitigate teacher attrition, and provide mentoring for aspiring educators.
Here is what participants had to say about their time learning in community:
"I feel more confident about the resources and organizations working in the AI space. I'm still a beginner in my journey with AI. This session has helped me understand the nuances of AI and I enjoyed creating an AI chat bot through Playlab." - José R.
“This session was very eye-opening to me as AI is something relatively new to me. I learned a great deal from Ethan and Jessenia and my peers. It was a very stimulating session." - Marycruz S.
"This really helps solidify the route I want to take in our ed tech learning at school." - Tony D.
