Hello, friends of SkillRise!
Are you looking for a digital skills course for job seekers, employees, and/or career coaches? If yes, we are looking for partners, including employers, community colleges, adult education programs, library systems, and others, to pilot a new course for free this January.
As is well documented, the need for digital skills development is significant. According to Digital US, 80% of middle skill jobs require digital skills, “yet 32 million Americans struggle to use a computer, and half of all Americans say they are not confident using technology to learn.”
At the same time, employers are increasingly emphasizing the need for workers with soft skills, such as adaptability, resilience, and problem-solving.
Our new courses – one customized for job seekers and workers, and the other for career coaches – offer access to high-quality, low-cost digital skills training that is future-ready.
The courses are aligned with the Profile of a Lifelong Learner, the SkillRise framework that defines the digital and lifelong learning skills that adults need to thrive in the future of work. Simply put, the Profile goes beyond discrete digital skills (like how to send an email) to highlight the intersection of digital and essential skills, like how to use technology to solve problems, collaborate with a global community, and build new skills across a lifetime.
In addition to the curriculum, we’re also writing an assessment that can be used as a signal of the digital and lifelong learning skills found in the Profile, including a verified credential that will be ready in the fall of 2022.
We are excited to share that registration for our no-cost digital skills pilot is open now! Use the form below to indicate your interest in the course (or enrolling your team in the class).
And, if you know of an employer or organization that’s looking for support with digital skills training, we’d welcome a referral.
